Hi Elder, Thanks for sending the warning message ..... but I believe it's just a hoax! I followed your instructions and located the file: sulfnbk.exe on my hard drive. I noticed it was dated 4/23/99 so it's been around for awhile.
Being a old suspicious ASA'er (how else do we live long enough to get old?), I started thinking what if it's a hoax and I really do need this file? I went to the attached website that I use to check for info on viruses - and especially hoaxes. Please check it out at:
http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/HBMalCode.shtml#sulfnbk

If you read the text, you'll no doubt agree that it is just a hoax. It seems like the sulfnbk.exe is a legitimate executable file. The website also offers two sites to obtain in information on how to recover the file if you've already deleted it.
1. Symantec is the company that produces Norton Anti Virus (the one I use as a preferred provider of choice).
2. McAffee - another national organization with a great reputation for high quality.
I chose NOT to REPLY ALL to our fellow ASA'ers with this message, as some are touchy about receiving too much e-mail. I would recommend that you consider forwarding this response to all our pals, as I don't want to see them waste their time - or delete a file they may not even be aware they need.
Don't feel bad about getting taken in with this scam. The creeps that create all this hoax and virus stuff are a real pain in the a--. They are usually harmless pranks that cost only time - but some are really malicious and destructive. This one seems to be more in the category of a mostly harmless prank.
Thanks for keeping us all on the straight and narrow. I think you're doing a great service to us all (no pun intended)!
Wishing you and your family a very Happy Holiday and a healthy and happy New Year!
Take care pal.
As always.

I didn't yet go through the process to identify the virus Bob Dandridge alerted but would offer you all the opportunity to check out a virus rumor site.... www.datafellows.com I found this helpful in quelling hysteria.

Hope you're all wrapped and ready for Christmas. Also hope your year has been blessed with happiness and just enough strife to allow you to enjoy the high points.
